History:

FCSI started in 1980 by the initiative of John woodhead, who lived as a Missionary child in Israel then went to study in Scotland and came back to Israel supported by his student fellowship in Scotland to start student ministry in Israel. John with other friends (Both Arab and Jew) supported the student groups that already started and made connections with them to create FCSI.

FCSI affiliated to IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) in 1987, and in 1989 it was registered in the Israeli government as an official charity. FCSI has played and is still playing a main role among Christian (Jews, Arabs and International) students in Israel, many of the students in the past are leading churches today or being a witness in their working place. It also played a unique role in being one of the few ministries in Israel that combine Arab Christians, Messianic Jews and Internationals under one roof.

Current situation: FCSI today is trying to serve 250,000 students in Israel that are scattered to 8 universities and 52 colleges. Among these 250,000 students about 250 have connection with FCSI groups or programs. There is about 10-15 groups that meet during the academic year, 2-3 national conferences for students, local outreach programs, lectures in Universities and also training programs for the students.

FCSI today has a national advisory board, a national student committee, one part time worker, the General Secretary, FCSI seeks to see more staff involved in the coming year to help students do their ministry on a more effective way.
FCSI has it’s main office in Nazareth, another office is in Jerusalem.

FCSI vision is to reach out to student with the message of Christ and help Christian students to be salt and light in their campuses and later on in their working place and society.
