Linga –Haifa
The Evangelical Convention in Israel held its annual meeting on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the New Covenant Church in Haifa.
Salim Hanna, secretary of the Council, began the meeting with a word of welcome on behalf of the Council and thanked the New Covenant Church for hosting the meeting. He asked the church pastor, Yosef Dakwar, to begin in prayer.
Pastor Yosef led the worship with his church praise team and shared a short devotion from 2 Samuel 1:19-27. This was followed with a presentation about the evangelical churches and members of the Council from different groups: Baptist, Assembly of God, Nazarene, Brethren.
Azeez Daeem, chairman of the Evangelical Council, thanked all the attendees and proclaimed the lordship of Jesus on the Council and its vision. He gave a short report on the work of the Council, emphasizing the unique diversity of the different churches united in glorifying one Lord.
He shared the history about the Council conferences and the committees involved in developing the work of the evangelical ministries.
Rev. Dr. Munir Kakish, chairman of the Evangelical Church in the Holy Land “Palestine” shared a brief word about the importance of both councils working together. He ended with a prayer for both councils and their ministries.
Pastor Ehab Ashkar, treasurer of the Council, gave a presentation on the last year’s budget which detailed the anticipated incomes and expenses of the present year. This was followed with a vote.
Fouad Haddad “Abu Reyad” shared about the proposed constitution and discussed suggested amendments.
After lunch there was a vote for the constitution and on new churches and organizations applying for Council membership: Beaana Baptist Church, Nazareth Illit Baptist Church, Immanuel Brethren Church in Haifa, and the Reconciliation Organization.
At the conclusion there was a vote on three new jobs: Bishara Salman for Legal Consultant, Ehab Eleimi for Council Accountant, Munther Naoum for General Secretary.
The meeting ended with prayers for God’s blessing on the ministry and the evangelical family as a whole.
