Let the Children Come, a foundation dedicated to ministry among children, concluded its annual summer camp in Shefamer. The camp lasted for two weeks and was entitled ‘the Road to Damascus.’ It outlined the story of the Apostle Paul and presented the main points in a fun and engaging way. The children enjoyed activities at a horse ranch in the nearby village of Beer Elmaksour where they spent 3 nights camping and 2 says at a nearby water park.
The camp activities were diverse and included many Biblical elements. Campers collected pine cones which represented the fruit of the spirit and unity in the Body of Christ. Walking to the village well helped highlight the story of the Samaritan woman. A 5 hour nature walk through the forest illustrated the need of a shepherd for guidance and also offered a comparison for the daily walking that our Good Shepherd Jesus experienced during His ministry in this country.
A staged wedding event was held to emphasize the divine union of marriage. Parents were invited to join this family oriented activity. On the last night, the movie ‘the Road to Damascus’ was shown to the children, their parents and villagers from Beer Elmaksour.
Following the film, the campers reenacted Paul’s walk to Damascus and, at the point of his encounter with Jesus, stood listening to the word of God from Acts 9. They were encouraged to make that moment a turning point in their lives by following Jesus Christ, just as Paul did.
Ranch owner Akram Ghadeer held horse riding lessons for the campers and held a riding event for campers to show off new skills at the conclusion. Certificates and medals were presented at the final ceremony. During the camp, children attended a horse race at the nearby village of Zarzir where they cheered for Ghadeer, who took first prize. The children were ecstatic to witness their first horse race and were offered a Biblical comparison from 1 Corinthians 9:24.
Brother Saul, from the Emmaues School in Nazareth, shared details about his ministry with the children and distributed Christian material to help them learn the Bible.
The final two days of camp were spent at Eltout Water Park and concluded with worship and fellowship for campers and their families.
