Linga- Meghar

El Manar Evangelical Church in Meghar hosted the monthly ministers’ breakfast meeting on Saturday, September 4, 2010. The ministers gathered from different towns and villages in the Galilee to share news about upcoming and past events and join in prayer for one another.

At the conclusion of the breakfast, attendees gathered for fellowship and began the meeting with the song “Oh Lord My Heart Worships You,” led by Khalil Khoury on the keyboard. A welcome was offered by El Manar’s pastor, Ehab Ashkar who stressed that while “each individual was different; everyone is united in the Body of Christ.” He reiterated the main focus of the local leaders: to reach people with the Truth. A reading from Psalm 18:30 was followed by a prayer for the meeting.

Saleem Hanna, representative of the Evangelical Council, welcomed the attendees and presented a report on behalf of the Council and its contribution to all evangelical ministries. He suggested the possibility of a common committee with members from the Evangelical Council of Israel and Palestine as well as Messianic church leaders.
Hanna Eid, an elder of Eilaboun Baptist Church, shared the story of a boy in his village diagnosed with a life threatening illness who was currently in the hospital. He requested that all ministers pray for him for a complete healing.

Pastor Botrous Ghrayeb, leader of the Nazarene Church in Haifa, announced the upcoming conference for church leaders to be held at the Golden Crown Hotel in Nazareth, November 3 – 11, entitled “Restoring David’s Fallen Tent.”
Rajaei Samawei, leader of Back to Jerusalem ministry, gave a report about the ministry of Linga and their new spiritual committee that joins four evangelical families: Baptist, Nazarene, Assembly of God and Brethren. He presented details on the English Linga site, the Christian Voice from the Holy Land to the whole world. He encouraged everyone to participate with this news/media ministry. Samawei suggested that each church and ministry have a Linga representative.

Rev. Dr. Hanna Katanacho announced the new location for the Galilee College for Bible Studies, which will be located at the nursing school of Nazareth Hospital. He also announced a new course for New Testament Greek. Pastor Hatem Jeryes will assist in the administration and Pastor Nabil Samara will be teaching.
Samer Botrous will replace Majdi Anwar as Director of Life Agape in Israel. All attendees offered their congratulations and encouragement.

Anees Barhoum, Director of the House of Light Ministry in Shefamer, announced the annual upcoming Levi meeting, October 2 at 10 AM at Levi Park. All were invited to attend.
Pastor Hani Sayegh shared about the annual festival held in Acre and encouraged all ministers to join his church in an outreach at the festival to reach the thousands of attendants with the gospel. The Acre Baptist Church library will be open for all.

Pastor Botrous Ghrayeb thanked the Lord for the ‘Back to Jerusalem’ ministry and Rajaei Samawei for the impact it made on his home church and the many who came to know the Lord through this event.
The meeting ended with words of prayer from Pastor Ashraf Abishai.
