Linga - Haifa

The Fellowship of Christian Students held its 2011 Winter Conference March 18-19 at Stella Mares in Haifa. The conference was entitled “Submission and Freedom.” Around 50 students and graduates were in attendance. The theme of the conference was taken from Galatians 5:1; “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1.

The activities began on Friday morning with hiking on the western side of Mt. Carmel followed by a return to Stella Mares for the conference. The conference started with several group activities and a lecture from Salim Munayer about “Church and Politics.” The day ended with evening recreation.

On Saturday, Pastor Jack Sara, leader of the Alliance Church in Jerusalem, preached two sermons in the morning and afternoon on the theme of freedom. Shadi Copty also shared a lecture on the history of Arab rule in the neighboring Arab countries and reactions towards the latest changes in the Middle East.
