Linga - Haifa
The monthly breakfast meeting for the evangelical leaders in Israel was held today at the New Covenant Church in Haifa.
Pastor Yosef Dakwar of the New Covenant church opened with a welcome for all attendees then shared a brief devotion from Hebrews 4: 16, emphasizing the continuity of close relationships between the leaders.
Azeez Daeem, the Chairman of the Evangelical Convention in Israel, shared about the issue of recognition from the government and opened the floor for suggestions on how to proceed. Most members are in agreement that the application for official government recognition as a separate religion should come under the auspices of the Convention.
This discussion was followed by an announcement from Pastor Pillip Saad about the 100 Years Celebration of Baptists next week (May 12-14) followed by a baptism service at the Jordan on Saturday.
Pastor Najeeb Atieh shared about the ministry of the Emmanuel Christian bookstore in Haifa and Mr. Azeez suggested that representatives from the bookstore visit the local churches and hand out their material.
Pastor Boutrus Ghrayeb encouraged the leaders to attend the special baptism service that will be held next Saturday and announced the upcoming performance of a Dutch choir tomorrow night at the Nazarene church in Haifa.
Yosef A. Linga site manager, talked about the ministry of the site and the importance of having power point presentations of hymns and praise songs available for the churches. He requested all leaders send any presentations not already catalogued on the site to Linga staff.
Azeez Daeem ended the meeting with a prayer of blessing.
