The US group warning of an impending judgment day does not represent the church, the bible or Christians, Jerusalem's deputy Latin Patriach said Friday.

California-based religious group Family Radio has erected several billboards across the West Bank slating May 21 as judgment day and advising travelers to "cry unto God."

Family Radio told Ma'an the billboards were displayed to inform Palestinians of "the great urgency that now exists for each and every person to be reconciled with God before May 21, 2011."

Deputy Latin Patriarch in Jerusalem Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo said that no person knew the date of the apocalypse, and that the fringe group's claims were not based on the bible.

Marcuzzo said the group was trying to achieve certain goals, but that real Christians would not be fooled.

He added that the bible called on all people to live in a good way, to avoid sins and to be ready to face God at any moment.
