While many people were celebrating Christmas and New Year’s in warm and safe homes with their family and friends, others were praying they could at least survive their circumstances. The floods began in Queensland's capital Brisbane in Australia last month December 2010, and are still carrying on the damage and sadly death and missing of people.
As a result to the unfortunate events, many people are lacking nutritional resources. More than that, the trucks cannot deliver food to the towns around. A Christian friend, Gordon Jonson, explains that the floods did not reach where he lives in Harvey Bay, 300 km north of Brisbane, but it has been raining; "The only problem is we are more or less cut off which means trucks with necessities cannot enter. There is much tragedy elsewhere." Says Gordon.
Let our prayers be lifted up for our Christian Brothers and Sisters in Australia; may the Lord comfort their hearts.
