Linga- Nazareth

After a much-needed Christmas break, programs at the Nazareth Evangelical Theological Seminary are up and running for the spring semester. Classes for the B.Th. program began on February 13, and NETS is offering a number of interesting courses, including the Life and Teachings of Jesus, a study of Romans, a survey of Philosophy, and Discipleship.

In addition to the ongoing B.Th. coursework, NETS is launching three new programs this spring!  On March 15, classes will begin for a Master of Arts in Ministry program, which will provide advanced theological training for local Christian leaders. Partnering with Hope International University in southern California, this program will have courses in both Arabic and English. NETS is thrilled to offer this hands-on degree that will be immediately applicable in our students’ ministry contexts.

Quite unexpectedly, NETS will be meeting another, different need in the community as well. It was brought to our attention recently that there are a number of licensed Israeli tour guides who are desperate for more in-depth knowledge of the Bible, so they can better serve the Christian tour groups they lead. As a result, NETS is launching a new program, beginning the second week in February, which will provide courses for tour guides over a period of two years, on topics ranging from theology to Biblical history and geography. Additionally, NETS is initiating an informal studies program that will provide leadership training to members of local churches. This program is designed to meet the needs of believers who wish to grow in their faith, increase their knowledge of the scriptures, and be equipped for service. Classes are currently being held at Akko Baptist Church.

In addition to these exciting new program offerings, NETS will be coordinating its biannual “Come and See” sabbatical program in March and April. Offered every six months, this is a month-long, biblically based sabbatical program that incorporates reading and study, seminars, guided tours and time for personal rest. Participants also have the opportunity to meet with members of the Arab and Jewish community to hear their stories of faith and life in modern Israel. In our program this spring, there will be pastors and other participants from America, and NETS is excited to offer them this opportunity for rest and renewal as well as significant cultural experiences.

NETS is thrilled to have a great group of students, lecturers and staff who make these myriad ministries possible. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to bring theological training and stories of the church in Israel to so many people, from local evangelical leaders to tour guides to Christian leaders from around the world.
