Linga- Nazareth
On Sunday, May 26, 2012, hundreds of Jewish and Arab believers gathered to participate in the Global Day of Prayer. The event, sponsored by the Convention of Evangelical Churches and the House of Prayer (HOPE) ministry, was held in Nazareth.
The meeting opened with a welcome by Salim Hanna and a prayer by Rev. Bryson Arthur, President of Nazareth Evangelical Theological Seminary (NETS).
A praise team from the Church of Adonai Roi in Tel Aviv (אדוני רועי, ת"א) led a time of worship and prayer in Hebrew, followed by Pastor Avi Mizrahi, who shared a short devotion from the book of Judges Chapter 7-8.
Pastor Khaled Dalle, leader of the Lord is my Banner praise team and pastor of Kfar Yassif Baptist Church, led praise and worship in the Arabic language. Rajaei Samawei, pastor of Nazareth Illit Baptist Church, shared a brief message from the book of Revelation 1:2-6, highlighting the message of love and unity during challenging times.
The Lord is my Banner led a time of joint prayer and repentance on behalf of all the gathered churches. Pastors Edward Tanous and Avi Mizrahi prayed on the subject of bloodshed, focusing specifically on the subject of abortion.
Pastor Tanous spoke as a representative of the Arabic churches and he requested forgiveness of the Jewish believers. Pastor Mizrahi spoke on behalf of the Jewish churches and asked the same of the Arabic believers.
Arab and Jewish believers then paired off into groups and prayed for one another. Leaders from both groups also gathered to pray for guidance and for the government in the country.
In conclusion, everyone participated in the Lord's Supper, led by Pastor Ehab Ashkar.
