The Orthodox Council Committee announced a forthcoming celebration to be held in the square outside the Annunciation church (Al Ain) on Easter day according to the Eastern Calendar (5th of May 2013). This celebration to come, has been given the name “The feast of hatching eggs.” This announcement that has clearly ignored the real name and the true significance of Easter caused many of the Christian community to be upset in the area of Nazareth and its surroundings. The reason for this is that the most important event in history, which is the resurrection of Jesus from the death, was given the name “Egg Hatching.” In addition to this, the announcement didn’t mention at all the real name of the feast.
In addition to this, the representative of the committee referred to Jesus Christ in a TV interview a couple of months ago saying: “In the land of the prophet Jesus.” This caused the Christians and the Orthodox clergy to react against him for using the word prophet instead of Master or Lord.

This was not the first time for the Orthodox council to behave in such a manner. During Christmas, the square of the Orthodox Church was used for what was called the Christmas market. This caused quite a lot of disturbance especially with rock and roll and rap music in the background .The annunciation church is located behind the area that was used for the Christmas market This event focused on putting up the Christmas tree and on hosting Santa Claus but there was no mention at all for the Lord Jesus on the day where everyone should be celebrating his birth.

This led to much opposition against the council’s committee and its approaches with regards to the Christian faith. Someone said to Linga’s site: “This is a time when all Christian denominations decided to unite in their festivals and celebrate Easter according to the Eastern Calendar; it is strange to see the Orthodox Council Committee decision to go for this step.”
