In response to an invitation by the local Baptist church in Nazareth, the hall of the Baptist school was full of people on Friday 26th April 2013. People came from all around the Galilee area to attend a wonderful evening led by the American singer Matthew Creamer.
Matthew was raised during the Seventies and Eighties in Bethlehem and Hebron. He is the son of American Presbyterian missionaries. When he was a child and whilst growing up, Matthew’s gift for composing songs and his talented voice became more and more apparent. Many of the local Evangelical churches worship using songs he had composed in their services: “Kirya layson,” “Be victorious,” “Oh Lord our God,” “Oh death where is your sting?” and many more.
Following completion of high school, he went back to the States and finihed a degree in Theology. He has written many songs in English and is currently serving in a church North of Tennessee.
Brother Zaher haddad, one of the elders of the church that hosted the event, opened up the meeting. Brother Matthew then sang a few of his old songs in addition to two new songs in Arabic. He also shared about the concepts of faith, salvation and grace in Arabic using his Bethlehem accent…Sister Nagham Samaan sang with him one of his newest songs in Arabic. Mathew also shared a few songs that he had written in English.
Matthew has arrived to the land in response to an invitation from the Baptist church to sing all throughout this week focusing on the spiritual aspects of things. It is worthy to mention that brother Matthew also shared a few of his songs last Sunday at the Baptist church in Kafer Kanna. Matthew’s wife, Roberta is with him in this tour.
Brother Matthew will also sing at the Baraka Presbyterian church in Bethlehem throughout the next few days.
