Over 270 people attended The Closing ceremony of the Back to Jerusalem project which was held Thursday, 22nd of July in the seven Arches hotel on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. The project was under the auspices and supervision of the Convention of Evangelical Churches in Israel, the Council of Evangelical Churches in the Holy Land and the ministry of Life Agape.
Rev. Magdy Anwar, Director of Life Agape began the celebration with a reading from Luke 15: 7 "will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents" where he said: "You made the Lord rejoice in the outreach that you had during this week," and then he asked Rev. Mazen Nasrawi to open the ceremony with a word of prayer.
Rev. Mazen Nasrawi, leader of the Redeemer praise team, led the worship with songs that enlivened the audience.
Later on, Pastor Rajai Samawi, the Director of the Back to Jerusalem project, gave a report of the activities and Evangelistic events that took place during the outreach. He said: we distributed about 23,000 packets of evangelistic materials during the campaign in all cities and villages that had outreach in. We did door to door visits and visited hundreds of homes, neighborhoods and hospitals and shared the gospel with all the households we visited in numerous towns and villages in Israel and the West Bank. There was also a special outreach for children and their parents who visit public parks in the city of Jerusalem. He also spoke about the medical outreach which was held in three cities, Bethlehem, Tel Aviv and Ramallah, where more than 250 patients attended to receive treatment and had access to medicine. One of the distinguished events which Brother Rajai spoke about, is the Evangelistic outreach for the Sudanese refugees and Africans in Tel Aviv and Arad, where the medical team visited the Church of Sudan in Tel Aviv for two days and they treated more than 150 Sudanese refugees and from Darfur and distributed boxes of food to more than 300 needy families and toys for children, milk and diapers, which were donated by some churches and organizations in the country as well as showing the Jesus film continuously in 8 Sudanese and African dialects.
Pastor Rajai also mentioned that during the outreach, they were exposed to three threats from different religious groups in different places, but he said that the scripture says that in all these things we are more than conquerors.
At the end of the report, Pastor Rajai displayed some pictures of the outreach events and programs during the week such as the Jesus film for children show in Palestinian dialect at Baptist School in Nazareth, medical outreach, food distribution and distribution of packets in the streets and visits to the homes.
Then, some of the participants gave testimonies for the Lord's work and the fruit that accrued during this week, as they said many people accepted the Lord Jesus into their lives and that their names are now written in the book of life.
After that, Wayne and Carolyn Walker from Dallas, Texas led a time of worship in English.
Brother Samer Botrus from Life Agape team, shared a short message from 1Corinthians 13 about love. He said that everything we've done through this outreach only motivated by love, where we need to love in order to change and we change too.
After that, Rev. Magdy Anwar invited Rev. Jack Sara, pastor of the CMA Church in Jerusalem to lead the attendees in the communion service. Pastor Jack invited all pastors and ministers to come forward and to offer prayers and blessings over the communion. He asked everyone present to pray for the peace of Jerusalem that comes only through the salvation of Jesus Christ.
At the end of the ceremony, Rev. Magdy Anwar thanked all brothers and sisters who have contributed and helped in the success of this project. And then brother Rajai invited all the international participants to stand as a prelude to send them to go to the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature. To complete the task of the Great commission the Lord Jesus Christ gave on the Mount of Olives. He asked the local believers to pray for our brothers and sister from outside the country and release them to their towns and their countries to complete the Great Commission there.
