Christmas celebrations officially were launched in the city of Nazareth, with attendance of thousands who came to join in the official ceremony of lighting a huge Christmas tree; which is the largest in the history of the city with a height of 20 meters.
The Celebration was held under the auspices of Greek Orthodox Church, Nazareth Association for Culture and Tourism, Municipality of Nazareth. The work on the Christmas tree was for over two and a half months that began with local initiatives.
A competition was announced by the administration of the festival about the contest for the best decorated house, shop and the most beautiful Christmas tree.
The crowd expressed much happiness with this interesting celebration, as many people attended from all denominations and religions, and thus contributed to the strengthening of relations between the residences of the city.
With the sound of firecrackers the largest Christmas tree was lit and officially announced the launch of Christmas market for the second year in a row.
Participants in the celebration; Nazareth Mayor Ramez Jaraysi, and his two deputies Mohamed Awaasi and Misbah Ziad, Dr. Azmi Hakim Chairman Greek Orthodox council and many officials and social figures from Nazareth and the region.
During the ceremony many exchanged holiday greetings and blessings with their hands raised to the sky; asking God for justice and comprehensive peace to the whole world.
